Turkana Friends Mission Director John Moru and Friends Church Peace Team (FCPT) coordinator Getry Agizah recently distributed ten new sewing machines to Friends women in Kakuma Refugee Camp, the largest refugee camp in the world, with nearly 200,000 people currently sheltering there. Thanks to the outreach efforts of the Turkana Friends Mission, Friends now have four churches inside the camp.

Elgon for nearly a decade and is trusted by many who don't trust the government or other social agencies. Recently I had the opportunity to participate in a leadership conference held in Kakamega, Kenya. Conference organizers invited Friends leaders from each FUM Yearly Meeting in Africa, along with representatives from other Friends organizations. The conference provided an opportunity for Friends to look at their past, celebrate their accomplishments, acknowledge their mistakes, and envision how God will guide them moving forward.
