Singing for Shepherds - Celebrating the Work of Turkana and Samburu Friends Missions

What an extraordinary joy to celebrate the work of Turkana and Samburu Friends Missions. On Sunday, September 15, FUM’s Advancement Committee sponsored a nine-hour Zoomathon to raise awareness and support for our two pastoralist missions in Kenya. Emily Provance was the host and throughout the day, Friends sang hymns, offered prayers, listened to reflections from Scripture, shared stories, and participated in Bible, FUM, and Kenya trivia games.

We Are Going to Cuba

JANUARY 7-15, 2025 Friends United Meeting sends Living Letters trips to join in the celebration and to experience the life and witness of Cuban Quakerism. We hope to encourage Friends, and to worship with Friends in Cuba, and to receive encouragement from Friends on the island. This one-week intervisitation trip is gentle enough for older Friends and is focused on sharing in worship and fellowship. Plan to see ruins in the process of reconstruction, get to know Cuban Friends, and to be part of a lively worship service and to enjoy the beautiful people, delicious food and natural sites of Cuba. As well as to experience the profound witness of Cuban Quakerism, and the survival of the Friends’ movement during the beginning of The Revolution.

We can be More

During my quiet time this morning I was thinking about what God is trying to teach me – teach us – during this season. It is my intent to grow from this, and to learn. An Enduring Truth

Image of tea lights.

Throughout our history, the people known as Friends (or Quakers) keep rediscovering an essential and enduring truth: There is one who speaks to our most basic needs and most significant hopes—Christ Jesus the Lord. Both individually and communally, we are learning to know and follow the Voice that guides us in the way we should go. Together, we seek to understand and obey that truth which sets us free. As a people, we share in the experience of that powerful life which makes all things new. Maybe you are searching for an authentic and transforming faith and community to call home—if so, come in and join us as we seek to know and follow Christ.

Our Mission

Friends United Meeting commits itself to energize and equip Friends through the power of the Holy Spirit to gather people into fellowships where Jesus Christ is known, loved, and obeyed as Teacher and Lord.
