Latino Friends Ministries

The General Board of Friends United Meeting is responsible for discerning FUM’s strategic priorities. During their recent meetings, the participation and devotions offered by Odalys Hernandez Cruz uniquely blessed the General Board. Odalys is the representative from Cuba Yearly Meeting. Local Latino Friends also prepared dinner for the board and invited board members to join them for their Friday evening worship gathering.

During the Friday session, the General Board received the recommendation to establish a Latino Friends Ministry Committee to oversee FUM programs and engagements with Spanish-speaking Friends in North America. The committee will work with Monthly and Yearly Meetings who desire to deepen their relationships with Latino communities. Additionally, the committee will network with Latino Friends in North America to provide resources, encouragement, and spiritual support. Karla Jay, FUM’s Global Ministries Coordinator, will provide staff support for the new committee and the Nominating Committee will begin to discern appointments.  The General Board wholeheartedly approved the recommendation.  (Image: Iglesia Amigos de Richmond)
