During the General Board Meeting, FUM members received an update from the Planning Committee about the upcoming Triennial. The Planning Committee reported that plans are underway to host the 2023 Triennial in Kenya. Given plans for the joint gathering in 2020 were disrupted, invitations were issued to the United Society of Friends Women International and Quaker Men International to partner with FUM in the gathering. Both agreed.
Currently, the Triennial Planning Committee recommended the theme that was previously selected, “Come, Abide, Go.” Additionally, they recommended a similar schedule that was planned for 2020, allowing each sponsoring group the opportunity to hold their programs on assigned days. To avoid scheduling conflicts with Yearly Meeting schedules, it was recommended the triennial be held June 18–24 or June 25–July 1, 2023. The most pressing priority is to secure the venue for the conference. The report was approved.
[ed. note: Since the time this article was published, the dates for the 2023 Triennial have been set as July 2–8, 2023.]
