Lindi Friends School is a refuge of hope and joy for the children of Kibera, a large urban slum in Nairobi. The school provides quality faith-based education, a safe place for children to play, and serves families who struggle to pay school fees. For many children, the meal they receive at school is their only meal for the day.
The school was established in 2005 by Friends in Nairobi who were called to serve the impoverished families living in Kibera. Today, Lindi Friends School has nearly 200 students in our nursery and primary programs. Many of their graduates pass the national exams, which qualifies them to go on to secondary school.
Since 2010, Lindi Friends School is under the care of Nairobi Yearly Meeting. Friends United Meeting partners with the Yearly Meeting to provide funds and support for the school. The most pressing priorities are to raise standards and wages for our teachers, purchase school supplies for our classrooms, scholarships for children who cannot pay school fees, and sponsors for our feeding program.
Join us in what God is doing in Kibera.
Through Friends United Meeting, your generous support to Lindi Friends School will make a significant difference in the lives of these children.
